About the Pink Gin

Pink gin is a short sour cocktail made with Plymouth gin and Angostura bitters, which give it a pink color and a bittersweet character. It's typically topped with water and garnished with lemon rind.

History

Pink gin originated in England during the mid-19th century, reportedly created by Royal Navy members who mixed Plymouth gin with Angostura bitters to make the medicinal bitters more palatable. The drink became popular in English establishments by the 1870s.
