Fernet Stock is a Czech herbal liqueur with 40% alcohol. It contains 14 herbs from around the world, including three from the Czech Republic. The recipe is kept secret.
How it is made
Herbs are soaked in alcohol for several months. The mixture then matures in oak barrels. Production is around 10 to 14 tons per month.
History
Austrian citizen Lionello Stock founded the brand in 1884 in Trieste. After the collapse of Austria-Hungary, he moved production to Bohemia, near Plzen.
