About the Sangria

Sangria is a refreshing fruit punch cocktail with red wine as its base. It combines the tartness of orange and lemon juice with sweetness from sugar and warm spices like cinnamon and cloves, creating a balanced and flavorful drink perfect for sharing.

History

Sangria originates from Spain and Portugal, with its name meaning 'bloodletting' in both languages. The drink has historical roots dating back to the Middle Ages in the Kingdom of León, where a precursor called Leonese lemonade was made with wine, citrus fruits, sugar, and spices. The modern sangria cocktail has been enjoyed since at least the early 19th century.
