About the Vampiro

The Vampiro is a refreshing sour cocktail with a tequila base. It combines tomato and citrus juices with spicy chili peppers and onion for a fruity, lightly carbonated, and spicy taste. The ingredients create a balanced flavor profile with sweet, sour, and spicy notes.

History

The Vampiro originated in San Luis Soyatlán, Mexico, and is considered the national drink. It was reportedly created by local fruit stand vendor Oscar Hernández for his own consumption before becoming popular by word of mouth. The name comes from the blood-red color of the drink when made with Viuda de Sanchez, a Mexican sangrita beverage.
