About the Radler

The Radler is a highball cocktail consisting of beer mixed with a lemon-flavored soft drink. This 50:50 combination creates a lower alcohol content beverage that is particularly popular during summer months as a thirst-quencher.

History

The Radler has a long history in German-speaking regions, originating as a drink called Radlermass created by innkeeper Franz Kugler in the 1920s. The combination of beer and soft drink, however, was documented as early as 1912. The term 'Radler' means 'cyclist' in German and has become popular across Europe and beyond.
