This vodka contains 40% alcohol and is made exclusively from wheat using copper pot stills at the Nolet Distillery.
Production process
Ketel One is crafted entirely from wheat in copper pot stills. The name comes from the Dutch word for pot still. After distillation, the vodka is filtered through loose charcoal and then stored in tile-lined tanks before bottling.
Background
The Nolet family founded their distillery in 1691. The name Ketel One was inspired by the original copper pot still, "Distilleerketel #1." Although they opened a US distillery in 1902, it closed during Prohibition. In 1979, Carolus Nolet focused on jenever, then created Ketel One Vodka for the American market, which launched in 1983.
Varieties
The brand produces several types: Ketel One Citroen, Ketel One Oranje, Ketel One Botanical, and Ketel 1 Jenever. The Nolet family and Diageo share ownership of the company.
