Irish Mist is a premium liqueur produced in Ireland. It is made with Tullamore Dew whiskey, clover and heather honey, and herbal extracts. It has an alcohol by volume of 35%.

How it is made

Irish Mist is produced using Tullamore Dew whiskey as its base. The recipe includes two types of honey - clover and heather - along with a special herbal extract. This combination gives the liqueur its sweet taste and delicate aroma.

History

A similar drink was consumed in Ireland as early as the 5th century, known as 'Heather Honey.' The recipe was lost in the late 17th century when Irish nobility left for Europe. The modern Irish Mist was created in 1947 at the Tullamore distillery after an ancient recipe was discovered in a manuscript.

How it is served

Irish Mist can be enjoyed neat or used in cocktails. It is an ingredient in the Black Nail cocktail on this site.
