Creme Yvette

2 cocktails with Creme Yvette

Creme Yvette is a liqueur crafted from parma violet petals, blackberries, red raspberries, wild strawberries, cassis, honey, orange peel, and vanilla. It was originally made in the United States and typically has a distinctive purple color.

How it is made

The liqueur is created by combining fresh berries, vanilla, spices, and violet petals. Charles Jacquin et Cie of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania originally manufactured this proprietary liqueur after acquiring the brand from Sheffield Company of Connecticut.

History

Production ceased in 1969, making the liqueur very difficult to locate. In 2009, Rob Cooper, known for creating St-Germain elderflower liqueur, brought it back. The current version has a subtle sweetness that pairs nicely with sparkling wine.

How it is served

Cocktails like Jezebel Sling and Rosso Doré incorporate Creme Yvette. When unavailable, creme de violette can be substituted in most recipes that call for Creme Yvette.
