Caffè corretto is an Italian beverage made from espresso with a shot of liquor, usually grappa. It has a strength that varies depending on the amount of alcohol added.

How it is made

Caffè corretto is prepared by adding a small amount of liquor, commonly grappa, to an espresso shot. Sometimes other liqueurs like sambuca or brandy are used. In Venice, a special version called rexentìn is served with espresso and a separate glass of liquor, which is added to the coffee in stages.

How it is served

This drink is typically served in espresso cups. In northern Italy, it is sometimes enjoyed for breakfast. The rexentìn variation in Venice involves drinking the espresso first, then adding the remaining liquor to the coffee dregs in the cup.
