About the Harvey Wallbanger
The Harvey Wallbanger is a tall sour drink made with vodka, orange juice, and a float of Galliano herbal liqueur. The combination creates a sweet yet herbal profile with a distinctive layered presentation. This cocktail became popular in the United States during the 1970s.
History
Created in 1969 as a marketing campaign by McKesson Imports to promote Galliano. The drink was developed by mixologist Donato "Duke" Antone and featured a surfer character named Harvey Wallbanger in advertisements. It became the first successful consultant-created cocktail to gain nationwide popularity.
