About the Blue Hawaii
This tropical cocktail combines light rum and vodka with pineapple juice and blue curaçao. It has a sweet and sour character and is served on the rocks.
History
The Blue Hawaii was invented in 1957 by Harry Yee of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, Hawaii. He created the drink for a sales representative of the Bols distiller who wanted a cocktail featuring their blue curaçao liqueur. The name references the 1961 Elvis Presley film and its title song.
