Q.b. Cooler

Made with rum and bitters, served in a rocks glass.

30 ml / 1 ozJamaican rum, gold
30 ml / 1 ozPuerto Rican rum, white
15 ml / 0.5 ozDemerara rum
30 ml / 1 ozClub soda
30 ml / 1 ozOrange juice
15 ml / 0.5 ozLime juice
15 ml / 0.5 ozHoney syrup, see notes
5 ml / 0.25 ozFalernum
0.5Ginger syrup
2 dashesBitters, Angostura
120 ml / 4 ozCrushed ice

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend on high for 5 seconds.
  3. Pour unstrained into a double old fashioned glass.

About the Q.b. Cooler

The Q.B. Cooler is a complex tiki drink blending three types of rum with citrus juices, syrups, and bitters. This combination creates a sweet yet tart profile with tropical notes and a smooth finish.

History

Created by Donn Beach for his Don the Beachcomber restaurants, the 'Q.B.' stands for Quiet Birdmen, a fraternity of aviators. Beach served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, and this aviation-themed drink resembles his Test Pilot cocktail.
