How it is made
Baileys Irish Cream is an emulsified liqueur made from Irish whiskey, cream, alcohol, sugar, and chocolate extract. The cream makes up about 50% of the product's volume. The Irish whiskey used in production is triple-distilled, giving it a special smoothness.
History
Baileys was launched in 1974 and quickly became popular, effectively starting the new category of Irish cream liqueurs. It was invented by Tom Jago, who also helped create the Malibu liqueur. The liqueur is named after a restaurant called Baileys Bistro that was located near the laboratory where it was developed.
