About the Irish Coffee
Irish coffee is a hot alcoholic drink that combines Irish whiskey with coffee and sugar, then topped with cream. The ingredients create a comforting, creamy beverage with coffee flavor and a hint of whiskey sweetness.
History
Different variations of coffee cocktails pre-date Irish coffee by at least 100 years. The modern recipe is claimed to have been developed in the 1940s or 1950s by Joe Sheridan at Foynes Airbase in Ireland, later popularized in San Francisco by Stanton Delaplane and the Buena Vista Cafe.
