About the B-52

This cocktail consists of three distinct layers made from coffee liqueur, Irish cream, and triple sec. When properly constructed, it presents a sweet, creamy coffee taste with visible separation between the ingredients.

History

The B-52 was created by a head bartender at the Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada. The cocktail's name references a musical group. After a customer added it to the menu at Keg Steakhouse in Calgary in 1977, some people mistakenly believed that was its origin point.
