About the Singapore Sling

The Singapore Sling is a long, sour-style cocktail with gin as its base. It features tropical pineapple juice balanced with citrus notes from lime juice, herbal undertones from Bénédictine, and a touch of sweetness from cherry liqueur and grenadine.

History

In 1915, bartender Ngiam Tong Boon at Singapore's Raffles Hotel created the gin sling, later known as the Singapore Sling. The cocktail was designed to appear like fruit juice, enabling women to consume alcohol in public.
