About the Clover Club

The Clover Club is a sour-style cocktail featuring gin as its base. The combination of raspberry syrup, lime juice, and egg white creates a tart, fruity drink with a characteristic foamy head. It's a sophisticated pre-Prohibition classic that has enjoyed a modern revival.

History

The Clover Club cocktail dates back to before Prohibition in the United States and is named after a Philadelphia men's club that was chartered in 1882. The drink was popular among the 'captains of industry' who were club members and was first published as a cocktail recipe in 1910. Despite its sophisticated origins, it experienced a rapid decline in popularity by the 1930s, though it has since seen a revival.
