About the Stinger

The Stinger is a short sour cocktail that combines Cognac with Crème de menthe and mint. This blend creates a refreshing yet potent drink with a distinctive mint flavor that balances the strength of the Cognac.

History

The Stinger originated in the United States around 1890. It was initially popular as a high-society drink and served as a digestif rather than a cocktail. The drink remained popular until the 1970s and was particularly favored during Prohibition when it helped mask the taste of inferior-quality brandies.
