About the Vieux Carré

The Vieux Carré is a stirred short drink that combines rye whiskey and cognac with herbal notes from Bénédictine and vermouth, balanced with Peychaud's bitters. Its complex flavor profile reflects its French Quarter origins.

History

Created by Walter Bergeron in New Orleans. The name means 'old square' in French, referring to the city's French Quarter neighborhood.
