About the Sherry Cobbler

The Sherry Cobbler is a refreshing sour cocktail with a fortified wine base. Its ingredients create a fruity, slightly sweet character with citrus notes. This drink was popular in the 19th century and often served with seasonal fruit garnishes.

History

The Sherry Cobbler emerged in the 1830s in the United States and became one of the most popular mixed drinks of the 19th century. Its popularity increased with the invention of the drinking straw, making crushed ice drinks more convenient. The earliest known reference appears in an 1838 diary by Canadian traveler Katherine Jane Ellice.
